Trae Young sent a half-court 3-pointer through the net as time ran out, and led the Atlanta Hawks to a narrow 124-121 win against the Utah Jazz on Tuesday.
Young received an inbound pass and began dribbling toward the half-court line, with only a few seconds left on the clock, he launched a 50-foot shot that went through the net just as time expired. Collin Sexton had been guarding him loosely after tying the game four seconds earlier with a 3-pointer.
Young scored 24 points while adding 20 assists for the Hawks to end a three-game losing streak. Dyson Daniels had a significant outing as well with 16 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds. Clint Capela also had 18 points, and De’Andre Hunter had contributed 17 points.
Lauri Markkanen had a season-high 35 points for Utah, making eight 3-pointers. Collin Sexton scored 24 points, and Walker Kessler scored 21 and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Young assisted Kessler on a dunk, but Utah scored on five straight possessions to take the lead 114-113, on two straight dunks by Kessler. However, Young answered with a step-back 3-pointer that gave Atlanta back the lead. He also found Hunter for a go-ahead 3-pointer, with 1:57 minutes remaining in the game.
