Background: The Birth of the Chicago Bulls
The Chicago Bulls were established in 1966 on January 16, and became a new member of the NBA. The team’s first owner-general manager, Dick Klein, was motivated to create this franchise after two other NBA teams-the Stags and the Packers/Zephyrs-had failed to make it in the Chicago area.
The difference the Bulls made was in their first season, making them the first-ever expansion team in the league to reach the playoffs. The opening years were not fruitful for this young franchise, a solid foundation was laid for the coming seasons.
Chicago Bulls Logo and Jersey Evolution
The famous Chicago Bulls logo shows a strong Red Bull with horns and has stayed the same since it was created. Theodore W. Drake designed the logo, which became known for the team’s strength and willpower. The Chicago Bulls jersey has not changed much over time, showing that the team values tradition, with red, black, and white as the main colors.
