Anthony Davis strongly rebukes Lakers coach JJ Redick's data and analytics-driven approach: “I don't care about numbers”.

Anthony Davis expressed his opinion on the LA Lakers coach JJ Redick’s coaching style when the journalist asked him about it. Redick Wednesday told reporters he would rely a lot on data and analytics when he was beginning his stint as Lakers’ head coach for the first time.

Speaking to reporters later on the same day, Davis said he could not care. He knows that’s the job of the coaching staff, they’re supposed to look into that data and tell him what to do on the court. Planning for the season doesn’t matter to him; he only cares about winning games.

“I don’t even know what some of that stuff means. It doesn’t matter to me. What matters is if we have more points than the other team at the end of the game. That’s all I care about,” Davis said.

“These things come up with regarding analytics, these categories, and stuff like that, it doesn’t even matter. It does not influence me whatsoever. I don’t care about numbers, numbers don’t mean anything. You can average 50 and be in last place.”

While others may think it is a negative, Anthony Davis doesn’t care, what happens outside the court. To Davis, he wouldn’t care for the number because it’s not his job to count everything around. His primary job is to play basketball under coach JJ Redick and get wins for the LA Lakers.

Analytics has recently started playing, a greater part in basketball. But that is the duty of Redick and his assistant coaches to make their on-court expectations understandable to Davis and all the Lakers.

Anthony Davis is enjoying practicing with LeBron and Bronny James.

LeBron and Bronny James will make history during this upcoming season since they become the first father-son duo to play in the league, during the same game, and as teammates. But apparently, they are already at each other’s throats during practice and Anthony Davis is enjoying every bit of it.

“It is great to be here and see it play out. Bronny hit a 3 over him today. Everybody was talking smack in Bronny’s favor. Then ‘Bron came down and just bullied somebody. and got a layup. I think Bronny came down and hit another 3 over Austin (Reaves), and ‘Bron wanted the ball. So you could see, even though they weren’t matched up, the competition is there and that’s what we love to see,” Davis said.
