Gordon returns to the Nuggets through 2029 after averaging 13.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists last season.
Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon has agreed to a four-year extension for $133 million, Calvin Andrews, Rich Paul, and Elise Gordon of Klutch Sports representatives told ESPN.
The newly established agreement incorporates a player option for the 2028-29 season including a trade kicker, increasing its complexity. The contract structure reveals Gordon’s intent to sign the deal that will take him through the next three seasons at his maximum salary, which includes performance bonuses, for the 2025-26 season. Under the terms, Gordon will remain a key player for the Nuggets as they seek to improve their recent league position.
The Nuggets have retained one of the league’s top role players in the league, a key part of their championship team from 2023. The Nuggets needed to get Gordon signed on for the long term after significant player Kentavious Caldwell-Pope departed for the Orlando Magic during free agency this summer.
Gordon spent the first 6½ years of his career with Orlando before being traded at the 2021 deadline to the Denver Nuggets, whose multi-dimensional two-way talents turned out to be missing for them in their quest to win their long-awaited championship. But in Gordon, stars Nikola Jokić and Jamal Murray finally found the perfect teammate, as he also blended quickly into strong chemistry with Jokic.
Gordon is currently 29 years old and is starting his eleventh season in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He has decided to change jersey numbers from No. 50 to No. 32 this season. This alteration was a genuine tribute to his older brother Drew Gordon who lost his life in a car accident in May.
