Background of the Los Angeles Clippers
The Buffalo Braves had established the Los Angeles Clippers back in 1970. During their early years, the franchise moved several times, first leaving Buffalo and taking up residence in San Diego in 1978 under the name San Diego Clippers. In 1984, the franchise made its last and most famous move to Los Angeles, where it became known as the Los Angeles Clippers.
In their early years, the Clippers had a hard time finding their mark in the NBA. It seemed as if their city rivals, the Lakers, got all the attention. However, of late, they have become a force to be reckoned with in the Western Conference with savvy management, better rosters, and strong performances.
Achievements and Milestones: Building a Legacy
Although the Clippers have never won an NBA championship, they seem to be gaining more momentum
in recent years. Some key achievements include:
- 2021 Western Conference Finals Appearance: For the first time in the history of the franchise, the team made it to the Conference Finals.
- Multiple playoff appearances: During the last decade, the Clippers have emerged as the regular playoff team; they often make deep runs, resulting in competition from the league’s best.
- Franchise record: The team amassed a franchise record for most regular-season wins in the 2013-2014 season, with a 57-25 record.
The Clippers are on the right track to winning that championship which has so far eluded them.
Los Angeles Clippers Coaching Staff: Leading the Way
The coaching staff has been instrumental in the form of the Clippers. Taking over in 2020, head coach Tyronn Lue is said to have transformed the Clippers into a true contender. Lue, a former player and an NBA champion as a coach with the Cleveland Cavaliers, has garnered recognition for his prowess at making in-game adjustments, and effective management of star players.
Lue has also leaned on a strong coaching team headed by assistants who have experience in the NBA. The trio works to get the best out of their team, providing accountability and competitiveness.
