Mavs' player Dante Exum will be out for 3 months following wrist surgery

Dallas Mavericks guard Dante Exum will miss three months after having surgery on his right wrist on Tuesday.

Dallas Mavericks point guard Dante Exum will probably spend the next three months in rest after undergoing surgery on his right wrist. The 29-year-old injured his wrist during a training camp workout and consulted with several doctors before deciding to surgery.

Exum will miss three months, but this should not hamstring the Mavericks in the long run. Nevertheless, his absence would be a drawback to the team’s backcourt at the season’s onset. In this phase, Point Guard Spencer Dinwiddie, Shooting Guard Quentin Grimes, and Guard Jaden Hardy will be heavily relied on.

Exum has experienced many injuries since he joined the professional basketball circuit in 2014. The Utah Jazz drafted Exum as the fifth overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. He was schooled at Thomas Carr College in Melbourne and Lake Ginninderra in Canberra, ACT.

Dante Exum As a Key Reserve

Dante Exum suffered an especially serious injury that got him onto the operating table. He will likely be unavailable for at least three months, returning on January 9, 2025, against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Mavericks have a well-balanced roster; thus, Exum’s injury is not going to make much difference in the short run. Being Dallas, Texas’s vital backup, soon enough there are Jaden Hardy, Spencer Dinwiddie, and Quentin Grimes to take his place.

Dante Exum and the Dallas Mavericks

Dante Exum has emerged as a significant figure for the Dallas Mavericks since the 2023 NBA off-season. He has assumed an essential role in Dallas, Texas, throughout the 2023-24 NBA season.

Dallas Mavericks Exum played his first game for the Mavericks on October 25, 2023, in a 126-119 win over the San Antonio Spurs. On December 12, 2023, he reached a season-high 26 points, including seven three-pointers, to lead the Mavericks to a closely fought 127-125 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. He played through the Mavericks’ run to the 2024 NBA Finals, where they would play the Boston Celtics in June 2024

Dante Exum’s Former Teams

Dante Exum is not a guy with many credentials, at least according to some credentials freaks. But he did have a pretty good season. The Dallas Mavericks believe in him as an NBA-level prospect. Exum played professionally overseas before joining the Mavericks in 2023 for two seasons, from 2021 to 2023, with FC Barcelona and Partizan Belgrade.

Exum played five seasons for the Utah Jazz from 2014 to 2019. Internationally, he has enjoyed some remarkable success, winning the ABA League Champion title and the All-ABA League Team and Spanish Cup titles in 2023.
