Atlanta Hawks rookie Zaccharie Risacher, the top pick in this summer’s NBA Draft, got off to a fine start to his NBA career with the notable taking of a catch-and-shoot three off an assist from Trae Young. That was his first regular-season shot in the NBA (NBA Stats Score).
Zaccharie Risacher‘s debut was good, but things eventually turned bad.
On Wednesday, the Memphis youngster wasn’t that lucky as the Grizzlies defeated the Brooklyn Nets 120-116. The rookie wing scored seven points on 2-for-8 shooting. He grabbed one rebound, failed to make an assist, and had just one turnover in 19 minutes. On top of that, he missed two of four free throw attempts.
Risacher said that it was an incredible experience and a dream come true. He narrated how the thrill of winning was so thrilling and how he could not wait until two days later when they played again. He just wanted to keep going, keep on winning, and keep on having fun.
Forward Risacher made his debut at 3:43 in the first quarter to a warm reception from the sellout crowd at State Farm Arena. In this rebuilding phase, the Hawks see high hope in Risacher and hope that he will contribute to making the team successful in elevating the franchise to new heights of achievement in Atlanta.
After hitting a three-pointer, his first career shot in Risacher, a warm welcome greeted the player. Exactly, he described the situation rightly by wishing he had scored his first career shot like this.
Risacher had six misses in the last game, three of which came from beyond the arc. He also lost the ball when his foot touched the sideline trying to shoot a long distance. His other basket was a strong dunk with under 10 minutes to go in the game off a bounce pass from Hawks star Trae Young.
“I wasn’t as efficient as I’m used to being, so that was a little bit disappointing,” Risacher said. “But it’s part of the game.”
He is aware that it will take a very long time for him to settle and be comfortable playing at a much higher level than the one he was used to in France.
“I’m only 19, so this is a big adjustment for me,” Risacher said. “I’ll be better and better and better.”
“I was pleased with most of the time”. Yeah, he played well,” said the Hawks coach, Quin Snyder, of his prized rookie despite modest numbers in 19 minutes of playing time.
Snyder complimented someone for doing an excellent job and spoke about the importance of affecting the game in multiple ways, not just making shots. He stressed that passing, cutting, and even helping out on defense can make an impact.
In his first game in the NBA, Risacher has already flashed potential for growth and improvement, especially on offense. Of course, one good game does not make a whole season, but there are still very good aspects to consider for his future in the league.
