NBA Fines LaMelo Ball, Hornets Star Player $100K For Anti-Gay Slur During Postgame Interview

The NBA has fined LaMelo Ball, a star player for the Charlotte Hornets, $100,000 for making an anti-gay comment during a postgame interview.

And this was after the Hornets surprised all of them by defeating the Milwaukee Bucks, 115-114. Ball made free throws that turned the game to Saturday.

During his presentation about the last game, in which his teammate Grant Williams had defended Giannis Antetokounmpo’s final attempt to win the game, Ball made an inappropriate remark.

We loaded up,” he said, then softly added “no homo” before continuing to make his remarks.

Ball recorded a team-high 26 points with nine rebounds and six assists all the last game.

The NBA released a statement regarding the fine imposed on Ball, describing his comment as “offensive and derogatory.”

The ball is playing exceptionally this season. He is leading to almost 30 scores per game with an average of 29.6. He is also generating 6.3 assists and 5.3 rebounds in 12 games.

Hopefully, this season will be one in which he finally gets to play all the time. The 2020 Rookie of the Year has sustained too many injuries in the last three seasons.

LaMelo Ball played 36 games from the season 2022-2023.

“He’s like the engine for us,” Hornets head coach Charles Lee said in October. “If we have a healthy LaMelo Ball, we’re going to do a lot of good things because I know that he’s going to continue to grow, and helps everyone around him continue to be better, too.”
